Strong, open communication with families is paramount to supporting each child’s
growth and development. We believe that authentic, genuine relationships with families
are essential in nurturing every child’s learning, wellbeing, and sense of belonging.
We are committed to building these partnerships through regular and meaningful
communication, including:
Family Communication & Meaningful Partnerships
- Centre Newsletters: sharing important updates, learning highlights, team updates
and what’s happening in our early learning community - Community Events: creating opportunities for families to connect with our
teachers and educators and meet other families in the Centre - Our 24/7 Family Communication App: providing real-time updates, photos,
messages, and ongoing connection - 1:1 Family Interviews: dedicated time to listen, share insights, and work
together to support each child’s aspirations - Summative Assessments: thoughtful reflections that capture each child’s
progress, strengths, and learning over time to support a smooth school transition
By communicating intentionally, we ensure families feel informed and connected to their
child’s learning. These touchpoints allow our team to listen, respond, and build trust;
strengthening the partnership between home and Centre and supporting the best
possible outcomes for children.
Child Protection & Safeguarding Commitment
At Honour and Plaîs Early Learning, our Centres, educators and staff are committed to ensuring the safety and wellbeing of all children and young people. We honour our responsibilities and statutory duty of care by implementing the National Principles for Child Safe Organisations and embedding the Queensland Child Safe Standards to prevent and respond to allegations of child abuse.
We uphold a zero tolerance for child abuse and actively raise awareness about the importance of child safety, protecting children who have experienced or may be at risk of significant harm, abuse or neglect—both within our Service and the broader community. In doing so, we act with Respect, Nurture, and Trust as the foundation of all interactions.
We ensure all staff, volunteers and students engaged with our Service are suitable to work with children and young people through rigorous recruitment and screening
processes, including Working with Children Checks. We uphold our professional responsibility to comply with the Child Protection Policy, mandatory reporting requirements, and the Reportable Conduct Scheme to safeguard children from physical, sexual, emotional and psychological abuse and neglect.
We are dedicated to promoting cultural safety and creating an inclusive environment for all children and young people, including First Nations Peoples, children from culturally and linguistically diverse backgrounds, children with disability, and children of all gender identities and expressions. We believe all children are unique, deserving of Excellence in care and protection, and have the right to be safeguarded from discrimination, harm and abuse.
We support the ongoing professional development of employees to maintain clear boundaries between appropriate and inappropriate behaviour and to strengthen their ability to recognise, respond to and report situations of abuse and neglect. We work in alignment with the United Nations Convention on the Rights of the Child and actively educate children on their right to be safe. We empower children to voice their concerns, opinions and ideas on matters that affect them and provide clear guidance on what to do if they feel unsafe. Our policies and procedures are informed by the voices of children, reflecting our commitment to Nurture, Respect, and Trust in building child safe environments.
We value open and regular communication with families, carers and the community, inviting their input into the review of our policies and procedures to ensure continuous improvement of our child safe practices. Together, we demonstrate Pride in fostering safe, inclusive and protective environments where every child can flourish.

Stay & Play Sessions
Choosing the right early learning environment for your child is a meaningful decision; one built on trust, connection, and a feeling that your child truly belongs.
At Honour Early Learning, we know families want more than a brochure and a tour. You want to see, feel, and experience what your child’s day will look like. That’s why we offer Stay & Play sessions following our tours; a relaxed, complimentary opportunity for families to spend time in our Centre before making any decisions.
A Stay & Play is more than a visit. It’s a chance to slow down, connect with our educators, explore the learning environment – all at your own pace.
What is a Stay & Play session?
A Stay & Play session invites you and your child into our learning environments to experience a real day at Honour. It is a calm, child-led visit where your child can explore and begin forming connections with their environment and their key teachers and educators - with you right by their side.
Why families value Stay & Play
Families often tell us that Stay & Play sessions provide reassurance and clarity, and peace of mind – particularly for those families navigating their child’s first transition into care.
1
Builds trust
Trust is at the heart of every strong early learning experience. Stay & Play sessions allow children to become familiar with the environment and educators they may see each day, while families gain confidence in the care, routines, and relationships being built.
2
Supports confident transitions
Children who have experienced a Stay & Play often transition more smoothly into care. Familiar faces, spaces, and routines help support a sense of comfort and belonging from the very beginning.
3
Encourages genuine connection
At Honour, we value strong partnerships with families. Stay & Play sessions create the opportunity for meaningful, early connections; allowing relationships with educators to form naturally and collaboratively.
4
See our approach to learning in action
Honour’s learning programs are thoughtfully designed to reflect each child’s interests, strengths, and stage of development. Our environments support exploration through play-based, intentional experiences.
During your Stay & Play, you’ll see how learning unfolds organically; guided by educators who know when to support, when to observe, and when to let children lead.
5
No cost. No obligation.
Our Stay & Play sessions are offered at no cost, with no expectation to enrol. We believe families should feel empowered and informed when making decisions about
their child’s care – and that confidence comes from experience, not pressure.
Whether you choose to enrol immediately, return later, or simply take the experience with you, we’re here to support your journey.
What to expect on the day
When you arrive, you’ll be welcomed by a member of our team and guided to a learning space suited to your child’s age and stage. From there, you and your child are free to:
- Engage in learning experiences aligned with your child’s interests
- Explore indoor and outdoor learning environments
- Observe daily routines such as group time, meals, or quiet moments
- Speak with educators about programs, routines, and your child’s needs
Your child may choose to dive straight in or stay close to you. Both are perfectly okay. Our educators are skilled in supporting children to feel safe and comfortable in their own time.
There is no right or wrong way to participate. The goal is simply to experience what Honour feels like.
A confident first step
When children transition into care after a Stay & Play, they do so with familiarity and confidence. And when families choose Honour, they do so knowing their decision was informed and grounded in real experience.
How to book a Stay & Play
Booking is easy. Post tour, simply contact our family Support team who will help arrange a time that suits your family. No cost. No pressure. Just the beginning of a meaningful partnership.
Because at Honour, we don’t just welcome children.. we Honour families.
